Financial Coach Academy Review

“I can’t even really believe I was calling myself a financial coach before taking the Financial Coach Academy. The amount of energy, effort, and detail that Kelsa, Michael, and Jill provide along with the years of experience they bring to the table is INVALUABLE. I honestly was blown away by the content and the systems that were provided by the FCA. Joining the Academy has pushed me to take my business more seriously and to feel confident as a coach so much more quickly than I ever would have been able to do on my own. I could not recommend this program enough to anybody who is motivated to grow their coaching business and learn from the best of the best.”

Learn How To Become A Financial Coach And Run Your Coaching Business.

A Financial Coaching Program That Covers It All

The Financial Coach Academy™ will walk you through step-by-step how to become a coach and efficiently run your business.

After more than a decade of running our financial coaching business and years of running this course, we have identified the five core concepts that every financial coach needs to be a successful coach. The Academy has assigned each of these concepts a module, and within each module is a series of lessons, videos, handouts, materials and actions to help you work through mastering this concept.

Because the course is designed to have you build your business as you work through it, by Module 2, you’ll be taking on clients. And by the time you finish all five modules, you’ll have the coaching skills to serve clients confidently and a business that is 100% up and running. Who knows, you might even start to enjoy selling your services. (WARNING: This is a common side effect of completing Module 4.)

What’s Included in the Academy?

Core Modules designed to get you coaching as soon as possible
Lessons designed to walk you through each module in step-by-step detail
Videos, including tutorials and pre-recorded Q&A calls with the instructors
Downloads, templates, contracts and bonus materials
Bonus Modules for specialized coaching and expanding your offerings

All content is released as soon as you purchase the course.

Financial Coach Academy Review

“I started Financial Coach Academy with the thought of starting a side business along with my current career, and I am now committed to doing this full-time. FCA gave me everything I needed to get started quickly including details on how to set up the business, what forms I need, how to market my business, how to create and structure my offerings, and so much more. The format and presentation of the material keeps you engaged and motivated, and there is a LOT of homework that preps your business to be ready to go by the time you finish the course. I took another coaching course from a well-known financial personality and, although I got a lot out of it, there was nowhere near the detail provided by FCA. I highly recommend FCA for anyone that is looking to learn more about financial coaching.”

Watch the lesson videos and absorb what we’re teaching.

Plan, brainstorm, and sketch out how that lesson applies to your coaching.

Create and build the document, process, script, or program you just designed.

Perfect or up level what you’re doing. But only if you want to. You can always revisit the finesse sections later.

Here’s The Module One Rubric

Notice the turtle? We’ve included those little guys in the rubrics to callout the places coaches commonly get tripped up. And then we help you move past them!

How long does it take to complete the Academy?

That’s the question we get asked most frequently. Our answer is that’s really difficult to say because it’s a self-paced course.

You can go at your own speed so there is no set time. And because some lessons will be harder than others based on your own skillset, how long the course takes is really up to you. We aim to provide the whole shebang with this course so there are a lot of lessons and exercises to work through. This is not a course you will finish in a day or a week. In fact, we recommend you don’t try to get through it in less than a month’s time.

But we also don’t want you to spend all your time learning without doing. By the end of Module 2, we encourage you to go out and start getting clients while you finish the remaining modules. The goal is that you start coaching relatively quickly while you continue designing your program and building your business.

Financial Coach Academy Review

“After a lot of research, FCA was the one program I chose to help me launch my financial coaching business. Before enrolling in FCA, I had a passion and a dream but hadn’t made any steps toward launching my financial coaching business. I have my MBA and can confidentially say that the FCA program is like an MBA for financial coaches. The FCA course is a high quality program that throughly prepares you to begin helping clients. I am still amazed that with the help of the FCA I’ve been able to build a business from the ground up and in just 16 weeks!”

What Financial Coach Academy Graduates Have Said

Meet Your Instructors

Jill, Kelsa, Michael, and Jaclyn

Why We Created the Academy

Financial Coaches have the power to change the world. We truly believe that. In fact, it’s why we created the Financial Coach Academy. We love financial coaching. Honestly, we’re a wee bit obsessed.

Our coaching business began with Kelsa Dickey. She had passion for financial coaching and wanted to help everyone take the stress out of managing their money. Literally everyone. (See, obsessed.) But knowing there was just one Kelsa, she knew it wasn’t possible. Who has that kind of time? She grew her team to include her husband Michael and they created the Academy in 2016 to start training more coaches. Since then, they’ve helped hundreds of coaches work their way through the Academy.

But that was just the start. Two of the coaches who’ve taken the course, Jill Emanuel and Jaclyn Wise, joined Kelsa’s team and are now Academy instructors too. We launched a completely revamped and redesigned Academy in 2021 that features everyone on this expanded team.

The Financial Coach Academy is our way to help as many people get financial coaching as possible. By creating a course that is practical and demonstrates everything we have learned over 10 years of financial coaching, we can help more coaches coach more people. So thank you for contributing to our mission because we still love coaching and we still want to help everyone. We are so glad you want to become a financial coach.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I have questions while I’m taking the course? Can I email you?2021-09-07T20:20:09+00:00

All attendees of the Academy are invited to join a Facebook group just for FCA graduates and our free Financial Coaches Unite Facebook group. Financial Coaches Unite is a 6,000+ member group made up of FCA graduates, veteran financial coaches, and newer coaches, so all experiences and skill levels are represented. It’s the best place to ask questions for two reasons:

  1. You will get feedback from other financial coaches on what has specifically worked for them, not just us.
  2. It will help other coaches who have the same question (and may not even know they have that question).

Currently, the best place to get our feedback and answer questions is via the Facebook group.  We respond to questions in the Unite group as often as we can, but can’t guarantee that we will answer your question.

But if you need more guidance and want more access to the instructors, you should join the Financial Coach Academy Mastermind. We open registration to this group twice a year, so be on the lookout for emails from us about open registration.

Does FCA teach the basics of personal finance?2021-07-28T19:42:55+00:00

We do not cover basic financial topics (i.e. what is a mortgage or what is interest) because there is already a wealth of great information and training on these topics (and we’ll share the ones we like best throughout the course). We assume that by having an interest in the FCA, you know a lot of this already, so we don’t want to waste anyone’s time.

Some of the major financial topics we cover in the FCA include, but are not limited to:

  • Budgeting
  • Debt payoff strategies
  • Specific scenarios and how to coach around them
  • Net Worth
  • Savings Rates
  • Emergency Budgets and Goals
  • Goal-Setting Strategies (did you know there are a bunch?)
  • Value-based spending
  • Financial principles
  • Money Mindset
  • Dream Budgets
  • Planning Ahead Financially
  • Business Budgeting & Coaching

We don’t just give you the definitions of these concepts, we walk you through exactly how to coach the client on them. Remember, coaching someone and teaching someone are not the same thing. We give you the tools and confidence to coach the client on these concepts.

How is your program different from other financial coach training programs?2021-07-16T20:55:35+00:00

Our program sets us apart from other financial coaching training in a few big ways:

  • Financial Coach Academy covers three main pillars – financial concepts, business building strategies, and coaching skills. Our approach to these topics is thorough and based on experience. We do not provide theories. We provide practical, hands-on, step-by-step instruction on tried-and-true methods that have worked for us. We share what didn’t work for us and why. We live and breathe financial coaching every day! Our approach to financial concepts, for example, is behavioral and we provide skill-based applications and exercises you can do with clients.
  • We don’t spend time talking about mortgages, bankruptcy, estate planning, insurance or other topics that you are probably familiar with already. And if you’re not, we show you how easy it is to discover those topics – you don’t need to pay us for those lessons.
  • We provide lifetime access to the course materials. So long as the course is around, you never lose access to them, nor do we ask you to pay more to keep them. That means as your business grows and you face new obstacles, you can revisit the materials and tackle those challenges with confidence!
  • Finally, not only do we share exactly how we do everything, we also give you the framework so you can create your own strategies that are unique to your personality and business. Our goal is for you to be inspired by us, not that you have to do everything exactly how we have.
  • As a financial coach first and foremost, Kelsa knows what it feels like to coach clients on their finances. She knows what you’ll go through, the things you are likely telling yourself, the worries you feel and hope you have for others. Throughout the Academy, these gems are sprinkled throughout so you feel understood and supported not just as a financial coach, but as a whole person.

We can say without any hesitation that the Financial Coach Academy is the most comprehensive, thorough, specific and valuable training for financial coaches there is.

What can I do with the information I learn from the Financial Coach Academy?2021-07-16T20:52:12+00:00

You will be able to take your knowledge and passion for personal finance and become a successful financial coach. It’s that simple. Most importantly, you will feel confident and be able to serve people well and get them great results. The course was designed to help you do that, so that’s what we want you to be able to do, regardless of where you are in your coaching career.

What do FCA graduates receive to show they’ve completed the program?2021-07-16T20:48:47+00:00

All graduates of the Financial Coach Academy receive a Certificate of Completion as well as a Financial Coach Academy Graduate Seal to place on their website and in their marketing materials. Being a graduate of the Financial Coach Academy sets you apart from other financial coaches in skill and service so we want your clients to know about it! We also provide you with some sample language to put in your marketing to promote your commitment to your own professional development.

How long does it take to complete the course?2021-06-28T19:06:21+00:00
That’s probably the question we are asked MOST often and we really wish we had a better answer. Because the answer is “It depends.”
Most people who enroll in FCA are working full-time or are a full-time parent and are looking to start and grow their coaching business on the side until they can leave a full-time job. So a big part of how long it will take you is connected to your other obligations and you know LIFE.
But the Academy is also not a passive course. You will build your business as you go! So some lessons you’ll fly through and others might take a bit longer, simply depending on your natural skillset. For example – some lessons are more tech-heavy and others are more creative in nature. We make everything as step-by-step as possible, but even then you’ll find some lessons easier than others (and another coach will be the opposite).
One thing to know is that we encourage you to go out and get clients after Module 2. So while there are 5 modules total, the idea is that you are completing Modules 3, 4, and 5 while meeting with clients. You will have enough of your business and coaching skills built just in the first 2 modules.
If you want to talk through it more to make sure it’s the right fit for you before you dive in, you can schedule a Q&A call with Kelsa, the Academy’s co-creator and lead instructor, here.
I think I’m ready to enroll. What are my next steps?2021-02-26T19:20:42+00:00

Purchase the course and begin learning immediately! Or if you have questions, you can set up a time to talk with Kelsa, the founder and creator of the Financial Coach Academy, by clicking here. You can call us at (480) 788-4588 or email info@fiscalfitnessphx.com to set up a discovery session to find out if this program is right for you.

Will I get access to the entire course once I purchase it?2021-02-26T17:58:43+00:00

Yes, once you purchase the course all videos, workbooks, materials, and exercise will be available to you immediately. However, the course is designed so the first five modules should be completed in order. Start with the core concepts and off you go!

Where are classes held?2020-05-26T21:27:56+00:00

The lessons are all previously recorded and available immediately, so you can watch them anywhere, at any time.

Can I get a refund after I purchase the Financial Coach Academy?2020-03-27T19:47:14+00:00
No, we don’t offer refunds. We put a lot of work into the course and think it’s the best financial coach training course there is. But we acknowledge it’s not for everyone, and it’s a big financial and time commitment. We want you to be 100% confident in your purchase before you hit the buy button. That’s why we offer a free 20-minute Q&A call to anyone considering purchasing the course. (Schedule it here.) We encourage you to take advantage of this so you can click purchase knowing FCA is exactly what you need to catapult your financial coaching career.
What will I learn in the Financial Coach Academy?2020-03-27T19:47:02+00:00

Practical steps to take your knowledge of personal finance and craft a business model around it. You will learn everything from client contracts and pricing to scheduling and marketing. We want you to learn from our mistakes and successes and use them to create a successful financial coaching business that’s all your own. You will also learn tried and true methods from exercises, discussion topics, handouts, and real-time questions that get results with clients.

What qualifications or certifications are required to enroll in the Financial Coach Academy?2020-03-27T19:46:25+00:00

None! Just a passion for helping people with their personal finances. It’s possible other people view you as a certified budget geek. Don’t worry. We love budget geeks. We are budget geeks. You will be in good company.

Do I need a degree in finance to join the Financial Coach Academy?2020-03-27T19:46:17+00:00

Certainly not. All you need is a desire to help people and a passion for personal finance.

What’s my ROI? Can you guarantee results?2020-03-27T19:46:10+00:00

We have poured a decade’s worth of lessons and hard work into this course’s materials. The Financial Coach Academy will show you everything that has brought us success and every mistake that we have made so you don’t repeat them. We truly believe that everything you get out of this course is directly related to the effort you put into it.  We provide ample execution time so you can apply everything that we teach to your business, and we are confident that work, plus accountability to keep you motivated and on track, will set you up for success.  Unfortunately, we can’t guarantee any level of results.
